OXCEL CPD@Barbera for January 2011
Welcome to the new home of the OXCEL CPD for 2011 at Cafe Barbera Bangsar. Inline with this, the seminars have been re-branded OXCEL CPD@Barbera. The room, specially created to host OXCEL Seminars and Events, is decorated with photos of OXCEL Events and OXCEL paraphernalia which harks back to a traditional English house set in the outskirts of Oxford. In going back to delighting Members during the CPD, imported candy was always present at the table, just in case they needed a sugar boost!
The event kicked off with a grand English breakfast which allowed Members the time and space to begin their day in an energised manner. With new members joining the seminar it was indeed a time of networking with each other and name card exchanges were frequently seen, this we may add is one of the many reasons people join OXCEL.
Prof Peter Shephard started the day questioning peoples assumptions to leadership and getting them to think introspectively about how they view themselves and the world around them. He then led discussions between the Members to find out what type of person you are and how it influences you as a leader and how that can assist or deter you from being a good leader of change.
This was interrupted with a short tea break at which many Members had more questions for Prof Peter and continued the questions. This made for a lively tea break! The day wrapped up with Prof Peter rounding off the session encouraging the Members to look at how change works in a person. Where its first Knowledge (which was gained at the seminar), which has to then be transformed into Attitudinal Change, the Change In Individual's behaviour, and Leading on into Group Change, and lastly Organisational/Societal change.
OXCEL Asia also introduced its new Corporate Video at the closing of the seminar which received a rapturous response at the end.
The day capped off with a great lunch served by the ever attentive Cafe Barbera staff and everyone left happy knowing that 2011 will be a great year for OXCEL.
