The OXCEL Europe Awards started with the OXCEL Awards Dinner 31st May, Sunday at the 5-Star Royal Olympic Hotel which had awe inspiring views of the Temple of Zeus from its front facade with a a cocktail reception at the poolside.
This event was attended by delegates from France, England, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Russia, Greece, America, Peru, Macedonia, Spain and Malaysia.
After the welcome cocktails, guests were ushered into the beautifully adorned Abbey Hall which had features of traditional 1400’s English-Grecian castles with its swords, shields and knights’ battle armour. This immediately brought us back in time to the Medieval Ages and provided the delegates with the perfect setting for the Awards Dinner.
Once Dinner was over by Prof Marshall Hall gave a brief Welcome Speech and this was followed by entertainment from a Greek Traditional Bazooki Player.
The dancing was initiated by Bryan Holden the Executive Director of the European Council for Business Education and everyone later joined in the fun dancing to the Traditional Greek Folk Dance.
The next day, members were taken on a tour of Athens after which was lunch and then the OXCEL Europe Awards Ceremony.
The Awards Ceremony was held at Abbey Hall.
This was then followed by dinner at the same hall. The candlelight dinner was truly a memorable one as Traditional Grecian Folk Dancers performed numerous acts including the famous Zorba dance. They got the crowd excited when they invited them to dance together, one of them was even twirled around on the shoulders of a dancer.
The evening was capped off with a farewell message by Prof Marshall Hall and the awarding of the OXCEL Leadership Achievement Medal to Bryan Holden the Executive Director of the European Council for Business Education.
Everyone left with fond memories of Greece and will indeed take back many experiences to their home country. To this we say farewell in Greek. Afkaristo and ooOOOPA!
